The honest starting point: enamel doesn’t regenerate

• Demineralization happens when acids — from food, drinks, or bacteria — pull minerals like calcium and phosphate out of the enamel surface, softening it slightly.
• Remineralization happens when those same minerals are redeposited back into the enamel’s surface layer, re-hardening it.
This isn’t regrowth. It’s closer to resurfacing — the outermost layer of enamel gets strengthened and its microscopic surface defects get filled back in with mineral.
